Journey - A Complete Production Opportunity for Choreographers
Applications for Journey 27/28 are now open. We are looking for choreographers who wish to develop a new work from first research to public premiere within a professional production framework in Vienna. Journey accepts only a very small number of choreographers each season in order to guarantee individual support throughout the entire creation process.

Journey roadmap
June 2027 – Research
Two weeks of daily studio access at bluebox Hub in Vienna.
Mentoring available on request, tailored to your needs.
Focus areas include: dramaturgy, funding, and technical aspects of production.
Optional accommodation can be arranged.
March 2028 – Rehearsal
2 Weeks with dancers provided by bluebox.
25 hours of rehearsal time with the selected cast.
Additional 24 hours of studio access outside of cast rehearsals.
Mentoring available if requested.
Optional accommodation can be arranged.
April 2028 – Premiere
Public premiere presented within Tanztage Wien alongside international artists and companies.
Technical support provided by the festival team.
Professional video recording of your premiere.
Your work presented alongside established international dance artists.
Journey – A Complete Production Opportunity for Choreographers
Journey is a unique format created by bluebox for choreographers who want to take a new work from first ideas to public premiere. Unlike most residencies, which conclude with a studio showing or work-in-progress presentation, Journey accompanies selected artists through multiple phases of creation - from research and rehearsal to full production and performance.
Participants receive access to studio space, dancers, mentoring, production support, theatre presentation, and professional documentation, creating a structure that supports the entire creative process rather than a single stage of development.
