Bluebox is an annual contemporary dance programme. It provides a selected number of dancers with the opportunity to receive innovative and specialized, high-quality process within contemporary dance. 
The program features a number of internationally renowned guest artists such as:

bluebox is a annual program  located in Vienna, Austria. It provides dancers with the maximum amount of knowledge and development. bluebox strives to facilitate the highest level of creative process and training: Selected dancers will attend a series of carefully curated masterclasses. In a company-like setting, each process lasts one week.

Alleyne Dance will craft an inspiring piece for Bluebox, set to debut at the renowned Odeon Theater in Vienna.  There is also the "Openbox" event, which invites participants to publicly showcase their personal creations, fostering a vibrant platform for artistic expression. Additionally, select dancers may earn opportunities to feature in external performances.

In addition to bring a strong sense of responsibility to bluebox, candidates should be technically proficient, curious, and brave to pursue excellence in dance. It is mandatory to be (minimum) 18 years old by October 2025. Considering the level at which the program is taught, selected dancers are expected to have already a movement background or dance education. 

Responding to the desire of many dancers to follow their individual career path, we introduce bluebox focus groups. These allow each dancer to determine their own career:

bluebox MOVERS upholds our motto, "learning from the best". By working with our top-notch guest artists, participants are confronted in the most direct way with the thinking and working methods of todays industry leading artists.

Bluebox CREATORS is specifically designed for aspiring dancemakers and is available to only a select few participants. It offers all the benefits of Bluebox MOVERS, plus additional time, space, and creative freedom. By working with our dancers, CREATORS can experiment with various methods and forms without adhering to fixed aesthetics. They also attend lectures by guest artists and experienced teachers on dramaturgy, production, and funding.

CREATORS are a subgroup within Bluebox, not a separate group. 

Our mission is to create meaningful career development opportunities. Through our platform, dancers can connect, collaborate, and stay inspired by engaging with seasoned professionals in the dance industry. The Bluebox program provides participants with invaluable hands-on experience while fostering relationships with influential industry contacts. 

Bluebox Calendar is designed using sports science principles to minimize injury risk while ensuring peak performance. Our daily schedule typically spans 5 to 6 hours. Exceptions occur for performances or designated rest periods. Rehearsals and training sessions are conducted by a guest artist each week, with occasional weeks featuring two guest artists sharing the leadership role.

Selected dancers will receive a brochure outlining the calendar, locations, guest teachers, performances and more helpful information about public transport etc.
