OPEN CALL I ARTIST IN RESIDENCE

Call for dance artists living in Austria or abroad.  As part bluebox artist in residency format, we select artists whose careers we believe in and support. We have one remaining spot available for Gen1. 

There are no age limits but applicants need proven experience in the contemporary dance industry. A minimum of 1 choreographic work must be completed if applying for the creation of a piece.

When: 19 - 23.11.2024 / 08 - 12.04.2025 / 10.12 - 14.12.2024

Deadline for applications: August 30th, 2024

The selected artist will need to provide:

A warm-up at the beginning of each day, followed by the creation of a piece, research, repertoire or workshop. During the final day, there will be a small presentation of what the artist in residence and the dancers of bluebox have worked on.

We offer

An artistic fee of 1000 Euro, as well as accommodation if needed. 

Between 5 and 6 hours of studio time a day at our studios at Gasometer Wien. 

A group of highly talented and motivated dancers to work with. 

A professionally shot video and a short interview. 

The selection process

Bluebox artistic direction will pre-select applicants based on their quality and fit with existing guest and residency artists of Gen1. We will send an email to confirm the remaining interest in September. Then bluebox participants will vote on October 1st to choose the final artist in residency. By taking this step, we can better manage expectations, assess self-responsibility, and further democraticize the selection process.
